SOCIO-TECHNICAL SUPPORT
1to1 provides socio-technical support to individuals or groups who are seeking to positively change their neighborhoods or community areas. This work typically takes the form of supporting spatially disadvantaged groups of people, but is applicable to any condition across South Africa.

SPATIAL DESIGN & CO-MAKING
1to1 offers traditional architectural and urban services, and is developing additional modes of spatial design support in the form of a set of neighbourhood design offerings. Our approach is guided by principles of participation, co-production and spatial justice.
FACILITATION & ENGAGEMENT
FACILITATION & ENGAGEMENT
1to1 provides a series of services around participative engagement strategies, facilitation as well as various other spatial development support activities. This is typically done between grass-root entities, academics, private sector practices, government or civil groups.
TEACHING & TRAINING
1to1 provides a teaching/training service in the across a disciplinary spread of technical, design and process driven fields. We have worked with various local and international universities as well as local governmental and grass-roots entities in various training and teaching programmes related to our organisational goals.
RESEARCH
1to1 offers field, desktop and various form of user centered research services. Our focus is typically urban, spatial and can be design-led/design supported. The research approach that we employ is positionally critical, grounded and framed by our values of spatial as well as social justice.
ADVOCACY
1to1 has developed a strong position in regards to the systemic nature of South Africa’s spatial inequality. In this regard we are committed to working towards spatial justice through supporting grass-roots level development as well as grounded forms of spatial development. This work is tied into our various services and is pushed through various projects.
